Charles M. Russell and the Art of Counting Coup: Now through September 6, 2009

View for the first time together two of Russell’s oil paintings, Counting Coup and When Blackfeet and Sioux Meet, his sculpture, Counting Coup, plus his rarely seen letter recounting the story that inspired the three related works. The historic exhibition also features eight other Russell sculptures, including his first bronze, Smoking Up.

Mary Lucier: The Plains of Sweet Regret at the Amon Carter Museum

 

Don't miss the first video installation in the history of the Amon Carter Museum. Mary Lucier: The Plains of Sweet Regret is a one-work exhibition that features an 18-minute, five-channel video work. This exhibition will occupy an entire gallery, filling the space with beautiful yet haunting images of the Great Plains in North Dakota.

 

Admission to all special exhibitions at the Amon Carter Museum is free. The Plains of Sweet Regret will be on view from November 15 through February 15, 2009.
